Perth Medieval Town Trail

Perth has a very distinct Medieval town plan and many references to this time period are still visible and perceivable throughout the public realm. Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust engaged Sabrina to develop and deliver new content for existing interpretation boards throughout the town centre. The theme was to bring Medieval Perth back to life for residents and visitors and tell interesting and relatable stories and interpret intangible details .
After an initial assessment and reporting on the feasibility of the project, Sabrina took on the project management and realisation of the installation. This included desktop research on history, heritage and story elements to be told and delivered in suitable locations. While creating the actual interpretive content, doing image research and copywriting, it also meant coordinating other trades, including map maker, digital content designers, graphic designers, BSL translators, historical consultants, panel designers and the installation of the actual panels and the delivery for the Medieval Perth web-content. As an additional task, Sabrina was asked to produce an accompanying leaflet for which she created layered imagery from the digital content and photography she had produced herself. Again, this involved project managing associated trades until completion. The town trail has been successful as an interpretation tool and remains popular with visitors. The leaflets had been stocked by the local VisitScotland Information Centre and handed out frequently.
Recently, Perth Museum has engaged with local costumed interpreters to deliver Medieval guided tours with the stipulation to include the installed interpretation boards on their tours.
